Compliments to the chef
Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at 11:46AM There are so many things parents do that usually go unnoticed.
Though you don’t sit with baited breath waiting to hear someone say “Thanks so much for doing the laundry” or “Your son looks so cute in his rock star outfit”, or “How do you do it all?” It is nice when you are hit over the head with a compliment every now and then.
Now I know, it may sound silly to some since those are the things you are SUPPOSED to do, and many parents have done them without any regrets or needing to hear thank you for thousands of years, but I will say that I nearly shed a tear yesterday when my son’s teacher said “You make Isaac the BEST lunches.”
It is funny after many years re-inventing myself and working in high pressure environments with many people counting on me for important decisions; for some reason those few words meant more to me than anything else I can remember.
Oh no, I can't believe it:
I AM ONE OF THOSE ANNOYING MOTHERS THAT I SWORE I WOULD NEVER BE.
So as I prepared my son’s lunch this morning, for the first time, I felt lunch pressure.
I hope that my piano sandwich will be a big hit.

Of course with Isaac, I should have used brie or goat cheese.
Am I the only mother of a 2 year old who is a foodie? Hummus, salmon, olives, anyone?
